The Glass–Steagall Act was basically about some provisions contained within the U.S. Banking Act of 1933 that limited commercial banks on how they could invest their money. In other words it was a safety measure that kept these banks from doing with “your” money whatever the fuck they wanted to do with it. If they wanted to invest in something like Hitler sportswear they would NOT be able to do it. In other words it kept the banks clean and above board in their investment activities, economically speaking it was a good thing.
But then Bill Clinton repealed the Glass–Steagall Act while he’s in office. And of course you know what happened after that, bucco banks failures and corporate bailouts that are still happening today. Yeah sure the stock market went to town, but that really only worked out for the rich. For the rest of us we saw failed mortgages and bankruptcies by the millions.
OK yeah so me being a guy against the entire capitalist free market system and basically a Marxist (well, kinda), why am I writing about Glass–Steagall as though it was and is a good thing? Shouldn’t I just be writing about lets fuck off the banking shit and just plant corn and catch water? Well yeah maybe I otta cuz that’s pretty much what I think we otta do, though I know we can’t do just that, not anymore anyways. Well there is an explanation for this but it’s kinda complicated yet I bet I can get it done.
Well see the truth is having Glass–Steagall or not having Glass–Steagall are the same deal to me. I don’t really care either way. Now at one time I would have cared, but that was before we set so many traps to bring us to extinction that it’s become more or less ridiculous to care about any god damn thing. But then you know I just love that Bernie Sanders, he’s the socialist I’ve hoped for every since I realized this shit about extinction. Well no that’s no right, he’s just something like we’ve needed for a long time—until recently that is. I shoulda said before “this shit about extinction”.
See Bernie’s gonna reinstate Glass–Steagall, he’s gonna make the economy grow, he’s gonna get all of us living good and prosperous lives again. Yet this is all the shit I think we need to avoid, still I love the guy, humm. Like I said, it’s complicated.
You say, “wait a fucking minute, all the shit you think we need to avoid (?) what the fuck is that – you sick cocksucker.” Well when you ask that I gotta figure you haven’t read my stuff before (so few have, so no surprise there – he, he) OK what that’s about is I’m the kinda guy who wants to see us go to a food, water, clothing and shelter kinda deal – like right fucking now. That’s all cuz-a climate change, oh and water issues, oh and nuclear issues, oh and bio-chemical issues, oh and natural resource issues, oh and economic collapse issues…I guess you get the point so I’ll shut up on that now. So yeah see I do feel that we’re most definitely on the path to extinction, I believe we got till about 2070 at best.
But then I also think that some kinda miracle could happen to pull us out of this dive. I mean we could get with it and do the food, water, clothing, and shelter deal, if we got with it real quick. So maybe, eh? Ahhh, it probably wouldn’t work even if we tried our best, but see that’s why I call it a miracle. Yeah and I kinda believe in miracles, though I ain’t never seen one, but maybe.
So back to this deal with Bernie Sanders and his promise to reinstate Glass–Steagall. Yeah see that goes the opposite way of the food, water, clothing, and shelter only kinda thing. And why I want to see us do the draconian act of putting us to food, water, clothing, and shelter only is cuz it will stop the insanity we are on now with free enterprise and making every fucking product we can think up while said products aren’t even worth a shit and are only causing us to go faster and faster down the road towards extinction. This is a god damn fact by the way, yeah even the World Bank thinks this is so and so does the U.N. of all things. Holy shit, who’d a thought that? Ya know?
See all that god damn production and consumption going on is what the fuck causing all the god damn carbon to go up into the sky and the oceans as well, god dammit. So this Glass–Steagall deal, as happy as is was for Roosevelt and the American people of that time, and would be the same for Bernie and all of us who like living prosperous and healthy, well, except for you know what — all the fucking carbon that’d be released. And the other shit too, like continuing with nuclear power which will blow up in our faces some day. The polluting of water, the use of our water, and more. So yeah, “time” is a wicked thing, you see. And in time we’re gonna blow it out our ass with this production and consumption shit, it’s a sure deal.
So like I said, it’s complicated. It’s happy and it’s tragic. We can get happy and prosperous again, but then it’d likely kill us in the end. Hey don’t blame me god dammit, I’m just telln’ ya about it, so fuck you with your attitudes – mother fuckers. Good bye, assholes. And good luck with yer happy and prosperous selves, fuckers. Hey, thanks for listening.
